Is Your Mind Constantly "On"?
Generalized Anxiety isn't just feeling nervous before something important.
It's feeling like your brain is always searching for the next problem to solve, the next mistake to avoid, or the next thing that could go wrong.
Even when life is relatively calm, your mind has a hard time believing it's safe to relax.
Do you...
Replay conversations long after they've ended, wondering if you said the wrong thing?
Feel like your brain is always trying to stay one step ahead of every possible problem?
Struggle to relax because there's always something else you should be thinking about?
Second guess your decisions, even after you've already made them?
Feel mentally exhausted from carrying around so many "what ifs" every day?
You probably look like you're holding it all together.
Most people wouldn't guess how much is happening inside your head.
You're responsible. You show up for work, keep your commitments, and take care of the people who depend on you. But behind the scenes, your brain rarely gets a break. You're constantly evaluating, planning, anticipating, and preparing. Even when nothing is technically wrong, it can feel like your mind refuses to let you rest.
Living with generalized anxiety often means you're carrying an invisible mental load that no one else can see.
You Are Not Alone
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health condition in the United States, affecting roughly 1 in 5 adults each year, and Generalized Anxiety is one of the most common forms. Many people spend years believing they're simply "overthinkers" or that this is just part of their personality.
People often mean well when they say things like, "Just stop worrying," or "You're thinking too much." If it were that simple, you probably would've stopped a long time ago.
At Taking Care Therapy, I believe that taking care of yourself isn't something you earn after everything else gets done. It's part of how you keep showing up for the people and life you care about.
Feeling Calm is Possible
When you've lived with anxiety long enough, constant worry starts to feel normal. You may even believe that overthinking is what keeps you responsible, prepared, or successful.
The goal of therapy isn't to eliminate uncertainty or pretend life isn't stressful. It's learning how to respond differently so anxiety no longer gets to make every decision for you. You can still be thoughtful, caring, and prepared without carrying the weight of every possible outcome.
(Stand alone) At Taking Care Therapy, I believe you don't need to wait until you're overwhelmed to deserve support. Taking care of yourself isn't a reward after everything else gets done. It's part of how you keep showing up for the people and life you care about most.
Therapy that meets you where you are.
You don't need to have a diagnosis or know everything about your anxiety before coming to therapy. We will explore this together with openness and curiosity.
During our first few sessions, we'll begin identifying the situations, beliefs, and patterns that keep anxiety going. We'll look at how worry shows up in your daily life, how your nervous system responds to stress, and the ways you've learned to cope over the years.
My approach is practical, collaborative, and down to earth. Depending on your goals, we may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure-based strategies from Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), mindfulness, and nervous system regulation techniques to help you break free.
Progress doesn't mean never feeling anxious again. It means trusting yourself more, tolerating uncertainty with greater confidence, and finally feeling like your mind can slow down instead of constantly racing.
